Bird of Paradise

The Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia reginae) is an elegant evergreen plant native to South Africa. It is admired worldwide for its spectacular flowers, which resemble the shape of a tropical bird with bright orange petals and deep blue accents. The large banana-like leaves add a lush, architectural appearance, making it one of the most popular statement plants for modern interiors and landscapes.

This plant thrives in bright light and prefers several hours of direct sunlight each day for the best flowering performance. It grows well in rich, well-draining soil and should be watered when the top layer of soil feels dry. While it enjoys consistent moisture, it does not tolerate waterlogged conditions. Regular feeding during the growing season encourages healthy foliage and abundant blooms.

Bird of Paradise is relatively low-maintenance once established and can live for decades with proper care. Indoors, it typically grows 4–6 feet (1.2–1.8 m) tall, while outdoor plants in warm climates can reach 5–8 feet (1.5–2.5 m) or more.
